Atlanta United have signed Japanese-American striker Cayman Togashi ahead of the 2025 MLS season. The 31 year old was born and raised in New York City until moving to Japan at the age of 6. Over the last few seasons, Togashi has been playing in the Japanese 1st division with Sagan Tosu. Last season specifically, Togashi had 2 goals and 2 assists across roughly 2,600 minutes.

Togashi joins Jamal Thiare as the only two strikers on Atlanta’s roster right now. There is still the expectation that Atlanta United goes out and signs a Designated Player striker for 2025, but, maybe this is a hint at when that signing will come? Garth Lagerway likes to typically wait until the summer to make some moves, so maybe that is when we see that additional striker move. But, nonetheless, Togashi is coming in and providing some domestic striker depth for this roster that was lacking at the position in 2024.
