Brentford Under-21s forward Iwan Morgan says the young Bees are “in a good place” as they prepare for a league clash with Colchester United Under-21s on Monday afternoon (1pm kick-off).

Neil MacFarlane’s side are in the midst of a six-game unbeaten run in the Professional Development League, five of those wins, a run they’ll be looking to continue at Wheatsheaf Park on Monday.

“We’re pretty confident going into the next game. We’re doing well, and we’re starting to go up the table,” said Morgan.

“We’re in a good place at the minute, we’re winning, we’re enjoying it and I think the performances are showing that as well.”

Brentford have been in scintillating form across the last six league games, scoring 20 goals while only allowing eight.

Morgan’s relationship up front with Ashley Hay and wing-backs Tony Yogane and Isaac Holland has proved key, the team’s attacking mindset proving a threat on matchdays.

“We’re scoring goals, that’s the main thing, that’s the positive. We’re working well, I think the front three are doing well,” explained Morgan.

“We're a very attacking team at the minute, especially with the two wing-backs Tony and Isaac.

“Me and Ash are doing well, he’s doing unbelievable at the minute Ash finding those goals. I’m just trying to do my bit in the no.10, see if I can add a couple of goals and assists to my game.

“As a whole I think the team are feeling positive when we’re going forward.”

While Colchester sit bottom of the south group of the PDL, Morgan said the young Bees are aware that every match is a danger game.

“I don’t think we should really look at the table because as we know in the league, every game’s going to be difficult. I know they’re struggling at the minute, but we were there at one stage and now look at us,” he said.

“We know they’re going to be a good outfit, every team’s a good outfit in the league, but hopefully we dominate and we'll be able to pick them off and keep driving up that table.”

Last time out

The young Bees produced a strong performance last time out in the league to beat Peterborough United U21s 2-1.

First-team player Ryan Trevitt found the opener for Brentford, before the visitors equalised midway through the second half.

Trevitt answered with a free-kick to get the lead back and secure the three points for the young Bees.
