At long, long last, it’s official – Alexander Isak is a Liverpool FC player.
The saga which has dominated the summer market reached its conclusion in the final hours of deadline day, with the Reds breaking the British transfer record for the second time in the space of three months.
After the £116m deal for Florian Wirtz in June, there was still scope for the Premier League champions to go even higher in securing the services of the Swedish striker from Newcastle.
On Monday evening, Liverpool announced the signing of Isak on their official website and social media channels, and have also confirmed that he will wear the number 9 shirt for the Reds.
As per Sky Sports, the 25-year-old arrives at Anfield in a six-year deal amounting to £125m, the largest fee ever paid by a British club on one transfer.

Newcastle had flatly rejected the Reds’ initial £110m offer a month ago, but with Isak going public in stating his desire to leave the club and the Magpies subsequently signing Nick Woltemade, the St James’ Park hierarchy ultimately agreed to part ways with the Swedish striker.
The 25-year-old scored 23 Premier League goals last season, a tally second only to Mo Salah, alongside whom he’ll now be playing in a devastating forward line at Anfield as Arne Slot and FSG demonstrate their determination to build a dynasty on Merseyside.
The transfer takes Liverpool’s spending on new players this summer beyond the £400m mark, with a large chunk of the outlay being recouped from an abundance of sales such as those of Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez.
Isak’s arrival represents a major statement of intent from the Reds, who also made one on the pitch yesterday by defeating likely title rivals Arsenal, and the Sweden international’s impact in English football thus far suggests that he’ll be a resounding success in L4.
Welcome to Liverpool, Alexander – it’s been worth every bit of the wait!
