Chelsea feel they can reach an agreement with Mike Maignan on salary and a formal proposal is expected according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Blues as has been the norm in recent years are gearing up for another busy summer and officially confirmed Liam Delap as their first signing on Wednesday evening.
Chelsea face a critical window and could look to add another striker, whilst they are also looking at a centre back and right footed attacker to bolster Enzo Maresca’s ranks.
Supporters would love to see the club sign a new goalkeeper given the issues the Blues have had between the sticks.
No goalkeeper made more mistakes leading to goals in the league than Robert Sanchez, whilst there are question marks over how good Filip Jorgensen is.
However, it was reported earlier this week Chelsea had made an approach to AC Milan for Maignan, but a deal could prove difficult to do.

Milan are said to want around €30m, but Chelsea are believed to value Maignan at just €10m given he has one year left on his contract.
Both clubs seems to be sticking to their valuations and it remains to be seen if they can meet in the middle, but Romano has provided an update on the situation.
“Enzo Maresca has also approved this potential move as he’d like to have a new goalkeeper for the new season with Champions League football and also the FIFA Club World Cup due to start soon,” he told Give Me Sport.
“It’s important to clarify that Chelsea believe they can reach an agreement on the salary with Maignan, with contacts to follow; but also that Mike Penders, the young goalkeeper signed last summer from Belgium, remains a crucial part of Chelsea’s plans for the future.”
If Chelsea do miss out on Maignan they still have Djordje Petrovic returning after a brilliant loan at Ligue 1 outfit Strasbourg.
