Chelsea left back Marc Cucurella has confirmed he’s signed a contract extension with the Stamford Bridge outfit.
Cucurella started for the Blues in their 5-1 win against West Ham, and put in another good performance as Chelsea put the Hammers to the sword.
The Spaniard was one of Chelsea’s top performers last season, and he’s very much picked up where he left off from.
Cucurella has undergone quite the redemption arc at Chelsea, having had a difficult start to life following his big money move from Brighton in 2022.
The 27-year-old was booed at times during his first season, but since a change of system which has seen him invert into midfield he’s become one of the best left backs not only in the Premier League, but in Europe.

There had been reports before the West Ham game Cucurella had signed a contract extension, and the Spain international has now confirmed the news himself.
“Yes, it’s done. We already did it,” he told Spanish media via BBC Sport.
“I’m very happy, the club gave me the confidence and I’m very happy to be here. Hopefully I will have a great year.”
Cucurella also added goals to his game last season, and found the back of the net on seven occasions, including vital winners against Leicester and Manchester United.
One of the most important things for Chelsea to address this summer was back-up and competition for Cucurella at left back.

The Blues signed Jorrel Hato from Ajax, and the teenager made his debut against West Ham, and will be a really important member of the squad.
Hato can also play at centre back, and his versatility will be an important attribute for Maresca, as well as being able to give Cucurella rest as and when he needs it.
