Matteo Darmian failed to impress in last evening’s Serie A clash between title hopefuls Inter Milan and in-form Fiorentina.
According to Interista.it, Darmian was among Inter’s worst-rated players in the crucial 2-1 home victory.
Denzel Dumfries’ suspension forced head coach Simone Inzaghi to reinstate the 35-year-old in the starting line-up.
However, the Italian veteran wasn’t up to the challenge.
In addition to another uneventful attacking showing, Darmian’s defensive contribution flattered to deceive.
Furthermore, he gave away a penalty to cancel Marin Pongracic’s own goal.
Luckily, he had Marko Arnautovic to bail him out of trouble.
Darmian’s handball inside the box slipped Federico La Penna’s eye.
However, the main referee pointed to the spot after consulting with the VAR booth.

Rolando Mandragora slotted home the resulting penalty toward the end of the first half to draw Fiorentina level.
But Inter restored the lead and eventually sealed all three points through Arnautovic’s header early in the second half.
With Dumfries returning from suspension, Darmian should drop to the bench in Sunday’s mouth-watering clash against Juventus.
