Fresh reports emerging from Italy have now provided further detail into Kevin De Bruyne’s hunt for a new home in the Naples area, amid growing interest from Napoli.
The Belgium international will be free to move away from Manchester City this summer after 10 years of service at the Etihad Stadium and a truly transformational period largely conducted by the attacking midfielder’s brilliance.
De Bruyne has spoken honestly in media duties since he confirmed his pending exit from the club earlier this year, suggesting that the decision taken by City officials was solely focussed on business as opposed to on-field performance.
From the part of the veteran creator, he still feels as though he has what it takes to perform at the very top of European football despite interest from Major League Soccer and Saudi Arabia, and even failed to shutdown the possibility of remaining in England.
Since then, a longer list of clubs has been linked with De Bruyne including Manchester City’s long-standing Premier League rivals Liverpool as well as Aston Villa. However, neither club is believed to be progressing on the matter, with an emergence of a strong possibility in Italy.
According to the information of journalist Gianluca Vitale, as translated and relayed by Sport Witness, Napoli are now making moves to win the race involving clubs from all over the world for Kevin De Bruyne.
It is claimed that the 33-year-old has been offered €8 million per year over two years by the Italian giants, reaching closer to €9 million when factoring in bonuses, in an agreement that would also feature the option of a further 12 months.
Further reporting from CalcioNapoli24 relayed quotes from journalist Dario Sarnataro, who says, “The negotiation with Napoli is real: the club likes the player, and they are trying to bring him to Italy.
“De Bruyne’s wife has already been in the city and, when the family moves, it means that the transfer is not impossible and that everything is being evaluated. From what we understand, the Belgian’s wife was not very happy with the houses she saw in Naples.”
The comments, translated and relayed by Sport Witness, continue, “It’s about a couple of apartments in the Posillipo area that she was not enthusiastic about because she had different needs: her requests were for a bigger and more modern house, different.
“The De Bruynes are used to ‘mega villas’ with lots of space, something you can hardly find in the centre of Naples, even if it is in a very beautiful and panoramic area. Someone from the family, perhaps a collaborator, will soon return to verify other situations.
“The apartment is only one of the aspects to consider, together with the economic offer and the proposals of the competition.”
For now, Kevin De Bruyne still has plenty of work to do himself at Manchester City, and could yet bring an end to his time under Pep Guardiola and at the Etihad Stadium with a trophy in his hands at Wembley Stadium.
While City know they must record wins in either, if not both, of their remaining two Premier League matches to secure UEFA Champions League football for next season, there is also an FA Cup Final on the horizon against Crystal Palace at Wembley Stadium.
