Sky Sport journalist Matteo Barzaghi has shared his insights on Inter Milan’s strategies for the upcoming transfer window.

Speaking on Marco Barzaghi’s YouTube channel via FCInter1908, Barzaghi made a bold prediction ahead of the winter transfer session.

Inter had a relatively quiet summer transfer window.

Apart from investing €15 million in the arrival of Josep Martinez from Genoa, Beppe Marotta refused to splash out heavy figures.

Mehdi Taremi and Piotr Zielinski joined the Nerazzurri on Bosman deals after parting with Porto and Napoli, respectively.

In addition, Simone Inzaghi’s side signed prodigious Argentine defender Tomas Palacios from Independiente Rivadavia.

However, Inter’s transfer dealings paled in comparison with AC Milan and Juventus.

Despite Marotta’s conservative approach, the defending Serie A champions still rank better than their rivals in the table.

But there’s no doubt the Nerazzurri will return to the market to address several glaring issues.

Inter could sever ties with long-serving stalwart Stefan de Vrij at the end of the season.

The Dutchman’s potential exit would leave a sizeable gap at the back.

Therefore, landing a new center-back remains one of Marotta’s priorities.

However, Barzaghi believes the Italian giants will sit out the January transfer window.

“I don’t think Inter will do much in January,” Barzaghi said. “I expect something more for the summer, even a big one.”

Meanwhile, he expects the Nerazzurri to do business next summer.

“I expect significant decisions on important roles.

“There will be a defensive issue to be settled, and a striker to sign.

“In June, I expect interventions, now, I don’t.”

Inter may also need to strengthen their frontline next summer.

But much will depend on Marcus Thuram’s future at Giuseppe Meazza.

Heavily linked with a big-money move, the French ace boasts several high-profile foreign suitors.

Thuram’s possible departure would likely force Inter’s hand.
