Alexander Isak has reportedly made Liverpool his “priority” in the summer transfer window as Newcastle United scramble to find a potential replacement if he leaves.

The Reds last week made an informal approach to Newcastle about a possible £120 million deal for the striker, but were told he is not for sale.

Isak was subsequently sent home ahead of their 4-0 friendly defeat to Celtic and has not flown out to Singapore with the squad for their pre-season tour, fuelling speculation over his future.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims that the Sweden international has made a move to Liverpool “his priority” above any other club. He adds that there have been “no talks” with Al Hilal, Chelsea or Manchester United despite reports linking him with those teams.

Liverpool have already spent big money on a new forward this summer, signing Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt this week in a deal worth up to £79 million. But Romano has reported that Isak “remains a target” for the Merseyside outfit.jorg

Newcastle are making contingency plans in case the 25-year-old leaves St. James’ Park before the start of next season. They submitted a bid for Brentford striker Yoane Wissa, but that was rejected. They have also been linked with RB Leipzig frontman Benjamin Sesko.

It has now emerged that the Magpies hold a “strong interest” in Wolves centre-forward Jorgen Strand Larsen, according to the Express & Star.

Newcastle are “admirers” of the Norwegian player and are “considering” making a move for him. However, they have not yet reached out to Wolves about his availability and the Midlands outfit have “no interest” in letting him leave Molineux this summer.
