The much-anticipated union between Kylian Mbappe and Real Madrid was always destined to happen. The club had spent years eyeing him, waiting for the right moment to bring the French superstar into their fold.

But when that moment finally arrived, it was not without complications. Initially, his arrival was seen as a huge coup for the club.

Strengthening an already formidable attack, Madrid now boasted one of the world’s top players. It was a move that seemed almost too good to be true.

Not aligned with Vinicius

Interestingly, what was supposed to be a perfect fit has already shown signs of not being so seamless.

The biggest concern? The clash between Mbappe and Vinicius Jr., who had taken on the mantle of leading Madrid’s offensive charge.

Both Mbappe and Vinicius play in similar attacking roles, and early predictions of ego clashes seemed to be coming true.

Although Mbappe is known for his selflessness and positive attitude within the team, his individualism often competes with Vinicius’ flair.

It is a tug-of-war for supremacy in Madrid’s attack, and unfortunately, it’s not benefitting the team’s overall game.

Both players possess the kind of individual talent that can win matches, but their styles can sometimes overlap in ways that harm the collective flow.

Mbappe’s skill is undeniable. His finishing has seen him score 33 goals, but his sometimes erratic form means that he does not always hit those levels consistently and analysts have called that out numerously.

It is not that he does not try—he works hard off the ball, contributes defensively, and seeks to make an impact. However, his desire to dominate the play can sometimes hinder the team’s overall offensive strategy.

To put things in order, it must be understood that the lack of fluidity is evident in Real Madrid’s struggles this season. Despite having a star-studded lineup, they have found themselves faltering at crucial moments.

The 3-0 defeat against Arsenal served as a stark reminder of the issues Madrid has had in recent months.

This defeat echoed the failures that Mbappe’s PSG endured in the Champions League: a team built around one star player, reliant on that individual having a perfect performance, something that is not a reliable option to have.

The issue is compounded by the fact that Vinicius, Bellingham, and Rodrygo, who were key players in Real Madrid’s successes last season, have not been at the same level.

Madrid are beginning to resemble PSG in one crucial aspect: an offensive strategy that fails to click collectively.

When one player, even as gifted as Mbappe, tries to carry the team on their own, it often leads to disjointed play rather than fluid attacking football.

A solution is needed… and soon!

It is clear that for Real Madrid to succeed, they need to solve this offensive conundrum.

Mbappe, for all his brilliance, must learn to fit into a system that has already been established, one where collective play, not individualism, is the key to success.

Until that happens, Madrid’s offensive potential will remain untapped, and they may find themselves repeating the same old mistakes that plagued PSG.

The dream of Mbappe and Real Madrid is still alive, but it is one that requires adjustment and compromise from both sides.
