Prior to the international break, Ipswich secured their first Premier League victory in 22 years as they beat Tottenham 2-1 away from home.

Manchester City loanee Kalvin Phillips is available again and will be assessed after serving his one match suspension.

Omari Hutchinson faces a late fitness test to determine whether he can feature after he was sent home from England U21 duty with a bruised foot.

Leny Yoro could be involved for the first time this season as the teenager has regained full fitness after he fractured his foot in pre-season against Arsenal.

Yoro’s return is a timely boost for Amorim as defensive duo Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof are doubts for the weekend.

Long-term absentees Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are both nearing reintegration after the left-backs have both endured lengthy spells on the sidelines.

Form

Ipswich: LLLDW

There will be a feel-good factor surrounding the club after Ipswich secured their first top-flight victory since 2002 a fortnight ago.

Sammie Szmodics and Liam Delap’s first half goals were enough to see the Tractor Boys triumph for the first time this campaign and climb above Crystal Palace and out of the relegation zone.

They were seconds away from winning the week before the Spurs encounter, but Leicester’s Jordan Ayew made them wait a little while longer for that winning feeling as he equalised deep into stoppage time.

However, ahead of Manchester United’s visit, it’s important to note that Kieran McKenna’s side have the worst home record in the division.

United’s recent upturn of form coincided with the dismissal of Erik ten Hag and the subsequent appointment of Ruud van Nistelrooy on an interim basis.

In his four games in charge, the Dutchman remained unbeaten with three wins in all competitions. Van Nistelrooy’s first game in charge saw the Red Devils overcome Leicester in a 5-2 thrashing in the Carabao Cup to book a quarter final against Spurs in December.

A stalemate with Chelsea preceded positive results over PAOK in the Europa League and another win over Leicester.

Last Meeting

Manchester United 3-0 Ipswich, League Cup, 23rd September 2015

It has been almost a decade since the two teams last met each other, as Louis Van Gaal’s Manchester United eased past Ipswich in the fourth round of the League Cup.

United’s all-time record goalscorer Wayne Rooney commenced the scoring in vintage fashion. The Englishman outmuscled Piotr Malarczyk before ruthlessly firing past Ipswich goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski.

The hosts extended their lead after the break as academy graduate Andreas Pereira netted his maiden goal for the club. The Brazilian’s perfectly placed free kick flew into the top corner and left Bialkowski rooted to the spot.

The Red Devils secured their place in the next round in the closing stages courtesy of summer recruit Anthony Martial as the Frenchman latched onto a Memphis Depay touch before slotting the ball away in front of the Stretford End.
