Kieran McKenna's side certainly never let the pressure get to them, always looking the likely winners in an eventual 2-0 victory. Goals from Wes Burns and Omari Hutchinson ensuring the club will play Premier League football for the first time since 2001/02.

The club's attention now turns to the summer, with big strengthening of the squad needed if they are to maintain football in the top-flight.

Ipswich Town eyeing Rangers John Lundstram

One player that has emerged as being on the club's radar immediately following their promotion is Rangers midfielder John Lundstram.

According to Alan Nixon via Patreon, the Tractor Boys are ready to make a late move for the 30-year-old, and are hoping that a move to Turkey for the Englishman does not go through.

Lundstram is already reported to be in talks with Trabzonspor about a free transfer to the Turkish Super Lig when his deal at Ibrox expires this summer, but clearly Ipswich are hoping to hijack this.

Kieran McKenna and the hierarchy at the club will hope that the lure of the Premier League and a return to England's top flight will be enough to convince Lundstram to sign on the dotted line at Portman Road and snub a move overseas.

Rangers boss Phillipe Clement is also said to be keen on getting Lundstram to renew his contract with Rangers, but reports suggest the chances of this are fading ever increasingly.

Recruitment will be key for Ipswich Town this summer

Although they have shown a capability of jumping up a division and thriving, having won back-to-back promotions from League One and the Championship, this summer and the transfer window will be vital for Ipswich Town and Kieran McKenna.

Even from the very sharp end of the Championship, the Premier League is a big leap, as evidenced by the fact that the current bottom three in the top-flight are the same three clubs that won promotion from the second tier last season.

If Ipswich want to avoid that same fate, they will have to recruit well, and bringing in someone like John Lundstram as a squad player would certainly do no harm.

The midfielder would cost nothing on a free transfer, and bring in Premier League experience having previously played in the division with Sheffield United.

With the Blades, Lundstram both survived relegation and suffered it, so his experiences would certainly be useful to have in the dressing room.
