We are resigned to losing Matt, but we must keep CCV at all costs…

We don’t like to lose any of our players, especially our most valuable ones. Matt O’Riley is one of those players, and despite his importance to Celtic most of us are resigned to losing him over the summer.

Matt will likely leave for a record transfer fee, maybe as high as £30m, and while it will cushion the blow it leaves a big void to fill in the middle of the park. It makes it all the more imperative that we reinvest a decent chunk of that fee on a replacement for the Danish international.

While we’re resigned to losing Matt, we don’t want to lose any more of our valuable assets. One player in particular we don’t want to lose is Celtic’s Big Strong Man, Cameron Carter Vickers.

Reports this morning suggest the USA international is a target for Ipswich, West Ham and Fulham.

Let’s hope it’s just speculation, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to know that sides are watching him as he’s a superb defender and a real leader on the park.

And with all due respect to the sides mentioned, CCV should be aiming higher if he does ever move on to bigger things.

If Matt is valued at £30 odd million, CCV will be valued not for short of that, but the English clubs will of course try to lowball our club on the basis of the standard of the Scottish Premiership. If it’s so bad why do they want our players? CCV is not only an excellent player, but he’s a true leader in this Celtic team and his mere presence is vital to our success.

We witnessed how much we struggled in his absence last season. To lose him is not worth thinking about. Let’s hope any and all offers are kicked firmly into touch.

Incidentally over on Kerrydale Street yesterday an ITK poster with a fairly decent track record, mentioned that Brendan had spoken to Carl Starfelt about a return to Paradise. Starfelt’s agent is also Gustaf Lagerbielke’s and it seems certain that he will be talking to Celtic about a move for the player he recommended as the Starfelt replacement. Things have been difficult to say the least for Starfelt in La Liga and he may well fancy a reunion with Cameron Carter-Vickers.

Yesterday those who rated Starfelt highly were dreaming of that re-union, then they’re hit with the news that multiple clubs want to sign CCV. Don’t sell him, Celtic!
