Queens Park Rangers had a busy summer transfer window, with as many as ten players signing a deal to bring them to Loftus Road for the season ahead.

With his first summer as Hoops boss under his belt, Marti Cifuentes has had the chance to put his own mark on the side, with the club looking to unearth a number of hidden gems from across the continent.

With the transfer window coming to a close at the end of last month, Rangers will have to look at free agents if they are going to strengthen between now and January, with plenty of unsigned talent still available as it stands.

With that in mind, we spoke to Football League World’s QPR fan pundit Louis Moir to see if there is anyone he has his eye on that is yet to have been snapped up from across Europe.

Alexis Beka Beka could bolster Queens Park Rangers midfield

The R’s have picked up five points from their opening four Championship fixtures, with their only defeat of the season coming in a 3-1 loss to West Bromwich Albion on the opening day of the campaign.

A 2-1 victory over Luton Town in their final outing before the international break earned a first win of the campaign, with goals from summer recruit Nicolas Madsen and Michael Frey seeing them come from behind to defeat the Hatters.

Danish midfielder Madsen is one of those who came in through the doors across the summer, with the 24-year-old joining from Belgian outfit Westerlo to add to Cifuentes’ midfield options.

With Madsen joining the likes of Jack Colback, Jonathan Varane, and Sam Field as options in the middle of the park, the Spaniard has plenty of talent to choose from in the engine room as it stands, although Moir believes there is still room for one more.

The R’s fan said: “Having had a look at all the players that are currently available on a free transfer, not just in England but across the rest of Europe, there are a few exciting players that could potentially fit in to the way we are recruiting now.

“There is one player in France, a defensive midfielder called Alexis Beka Beka, who left Nice in the summer and is still very young in the grand scheme of things.

“He seems like a player who has had a few personal issues recently that hasn’t allowed him to kick on in his career, but if you take a look back, he has played for the French side at youth level, and represented France at the Olympics.”

Alexis Beka Beka remains free agent after Nice release

At 23 years of age, Beka Beka still has plenty of years ahead of him, as Moir suggests, although he only featured in 14 league games during his two-year association with Nice, that came to an end over the summer.

In fact, the midfielder hasn’t featured in any professional game since June of last year, owing to a number of personal issues that has seen him take some time away from the game.

Whether he is still wanting to continue his career at this juncture remains to be seen, but having made his way up the youth levels with the French national team, Moir is confident there is a player still in there if his side did take a punt on him.

He continued: “He certainly looks like a player who has potential but it has just not really been unlocked yet, and even though we signed Jonathan Varane and Nicolas Madsen, we’ve still got Sam Field and Jack Colback, I still think we could potentially do with another body in midfield.

“Elijah Dickson-Bonner is not at it for this level, so Alexis Beka Beka could be a player who could fit in to the way we do things now - you never know - and with the potential there to be unlocked he is a player who intrigues me, and would be an interesting one to look at.”
