Inter have registered their Under-23 team for Serie C this season and are bolstering it with several talents, including Mattia Marello from Udinese and Verona’s Richi Agbonifo.

The Nerazzurri became the fourth Serie A side to enrol their youth team into Serie C, after Juventus, Atalanta and Milan, seen as a way of helping teenagers get regular playing time against more experienced players rather than stuck in the Primavera leagues.

This also means they are bringing in fresh talents to fill the squad for coach Stefano Vecchi, and today was very busy at the Inter headquarters, with numerous meetings.

Udinese have agreed to hand over left-back Mattia Marello on loan with option to buy for a total fee of circa €4m.

He is only 17 years old, but is expected to leap from the Nerazzurri Under-20 team straight to the Under-23 squad.

Another intriguing talent is Hellas Verona youth product Richi Agbonifo, a 19-year-old wide striker who plays for Italy at Under-19 and Under-20 level.

Last season, he contributed 13 goals and 11 assists for Verona’s Primavera side and is making the permanent transfer with a five-year contract, with Verona receiving €1m.
