Inter Milan talisman Hakan Calhanoglu warned Serie A leaders Napoli after a fantastic UEFA Champions League win against Arsenal.
Speaking to Prime after the match, as reported by FCInterNews, Calhanoglu also discussed his game-winning penalty this evening.
Back to the starting line-up for the first time since October 20, Hakan Calhanoglu delivered a midfield masterclass.
As ever, he was the beating heart of Simone Inzaghi’s midfield.
Indeed, the 30-year-old’s playmaking skills and ability to hold the ball in tight spaces made a difference tonight.
In addition to his outstanding performance, the Turkish star grabbed his second Champions League goal this term.
As a result, he is Inter’s most prolific player at Europe’s top table.
He’s the only Nerazzurri ace to score more than once during this Champions League campaign.
The task of beating Arsenal was never short of Herculean.
However, Calhanoglu kept his composure to beat David Raya from the spot and hand Inter an all-important win.
“How do I define this penalty? Let’s hope to continue like this, I don’t want to make a mistake.
“I watched the goalkeeper until the end, I did something different.
“I’m speaking in general, the match was very difficult, Arsenal is very strong.
“Only the result matters, in the end. We defended well, we didn’t concede a goal. They took many corner kicks, but our defenders did well.”
Inter had to go through a great deal of suffering to get three points over the line.
“Sometimes it’s like that, today we suffered a bit. We worked with a lot of sacrifice,” Calhanoglu added.
The former AC Milan playmaker defied his recent fitness problems to help Inter maintain a near-faultless European record.
“Difficult, I hadn’t played for three weeks,” Calhanoglu stated.
“I played 90′ in total in the last two, I needed to have minutes in my legs.
“Now we are ready for Napoli.”
