Federico Dimarco has won praise for his linkup with Inter Milan teammates Alessandro Bastoni and Davide Frattesi for Italy against Israel.

Today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, highlight the understanding between the three Nerazzurri players as key for the Azzurri.

Italy coach Luciano Spalletti has always made clear that he wants to build his team around players from Inter.

Part of the reason for that is the amount of quality in the Inter team, with a core of Italian internationals.

But beyond that, there is the fact that the Nerazzurri employ a very successful collective style of play.

It is little surprise to see that Spalletti has used a 3-5-2 shape in Nations League matches over the break.

That has gotten the best individual performances out of Inter players who are in familiar roles.

Dimarco Praised For Chemistry With Bastoni & Dimarco For Italy Vs Israel

The player who’s really emblematic of the Inter connection in Italy’s squad, the Corriere argues, is Dimarco.

The wingback has evolved into a key player on Inter’s left flank.

Dimarco’s technical quality has obviously been the key reason for this.

But the 26-year-old’s ability to adapt to the system and understand his teammates has also made him a highly individual figure for Inter.

And so it has been for Italy.

Dimarco and Bastoni form a core of players on the left side of Inter’s team shape.

Both of the pair have a fair bit of license to roam around the pitch and get into attacking areas.

But the two Italian internationals know how to cover for each other to keep the team shape coherent.

Inter have been benefiting from this understanding for quite some time. And now so are Italy.

Meanwhile, Dimarco assisted his Inter teammate Davide Frattesi for Italy’s first goal yesterday.

The Inter wingback’s understanding of the timing and placement of Frattesi’s run into the penalty area was hardly a surprise, considering the pair share a club.
