Lautaro Martinez has offered his verdict on Inter Milan monopolizing the 2023/24 Serie A best XI after being named the MVP.

During his brief media chat on the AIC Grand Gala ceremony via FCInterNews, Martinez hailed the team’s overall performance last year.

Last season’s Capocanninere award winner rightfully earned the most prestigious individual prize in Italian club football.

With 24 goals and six assists from 33 league appearances, Lautaro Martinez was unstoppable.

More importantly, his exploits helped Inter reclaim the Scudetto and add a coveted second star to their jersey.

However, the 27-year-old couldn’t reach such impressive heights without a collective effort behind him.

Indeed, the team unity instilled by title-winning boss Simone Inzaghi was the main ingredient behind Inter’s standout success.

That’s perhaps best illustrated by the number of Inter stars in the division’s best line-up.

As many as six Nerazzurri aces joined Martinez in Serie A’s elite XI.

In addition to Martinez, six other Inzaghi’s first-team stalwarts found their spots in this prestigious selection.

Yann Sommer, Alessandro Bastoni, Federico Dimarco, Nicolo Barella, Hakan Calhanoglu, and Marcus Thuram are the others.

However, the Nerazzurri captain stole the show.

“Thanks to my teammates because without them, this award wouldn’t have been possible,” Martinez said.

“Thanks to the coach, the club for their trust, and the fans, who are our extra player on the field.

“We hope to continue on this path to bring trophies to Inter – that’s our goal in the dressing room.

“I thank my children, who changed my life, my wife, and all my family.

“Lastly, I send a thought to my grandmother, who is going through a tough time: this award is for them.”

Despite a stuttering league start this season, Inter have continued in the same vein.

Indeed, Inzaghi’s charges are in red-hot form, going unbeaten in their last 12 outings across all competitions.
