Inter Milan midfielder Hakan Clahanoglu feels that captain Lautaro Martinez’s recent lack of goals is “no problem” after his team beat Lazio 6-0.
The Turkish international spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, after the Serie A match.
Inter managed to put six goals past Lazio keeper Ivan Provedel without reply.
And there were six different scorers for the Nerazzurri.
Wingback Carlos Augusto even managed to score his first goal in Serie A for Inter.
However, one notable absentee among the scorers for Inter was Nerazzurri captain Lautaro Martinez.
Martinez’s strike partner Marcus Thuram managed to find the back of the net. He scored right at the end, taking him one goal closer to Atalanta’s Mateo Retegui in the Serie A scoring charts.
But Martinez did not manage to get himself on the scoresheet.
Martinez has now gone well over a month without a goal for Inter.
The Argentine has found the back of the net a total of five times in Serie A this campaign. He has also scored once in the Champions League.
But as far as Inter midfielder Calhanoglu – named as man of the match against Lazio – is concerned, “There’s no problem.”
“He helps the team out a lot defensively,” the 30-year-old said of his captain.
“And then the other players score as well.”
“He’s already done plenty for Inter. His moment will come.”
Calhanoglu said that “After we played badly in Leverkusen, we reacted well as a team.”
“It was an important match against a strong team,” the Turk added. “We wanted to win, and we did.”
And the former AC Milan midfielder was not too concerned with his own individual award.
“It’s a team award,” he said. “We all played very well.”
“Dimarco made a great assist. Barella great goal. Then, I told Thuram he’d score, and he did.”
