Inter Milan star Federico Dimarco came off the bench in last night’s frustrating 1-0 Champions defeat at Bayer Leverkusen.
However, according to Tuttosport via FCInterNews, the Italy international failed to live up to the billing at the BayArena.
Nordi Mukiele’s 90th-minute winner knocked the Nerazzurri down from a 13-match unbeaten streak in all competitions.
Indeed, the Frenchman pounced on a fortunate rebound to hand Leverkusen a late victory.
Despite conceding their first goal in the ongoing Champions League campaign, Inter’s backline received broad plaudits for their effort.
But not all Inter defenders had a great game.
Simone Inzaghi benched his talismanic wingback for Carlos Augusto.
But with the Brazilian picking up an early booking, the Inter boss brought Dimarco on early in the second half.
Unfortunately, the 27-year-old couldn’t offer an improvement on the former Monza defender.
Dimarco’s trademark overlapping runs down the left flank were nowhere to be seen.
Inter couldn’t do much to hurt Leverkusen’s defense without his signature crosses and dead-ball delivers.
But much credit goes to Die Werkself’s proactive approach.
Indeed, Jeremie Frimpong kept Dimarco preoccupied in his opening third, denying him opportunities to venture forward.
