Inter Milan striker Marcus Thuram is confident he could beat his legendary father Lilian while in his prime.

The former Parma, Juventus and Barcelona star was one of the best defenders of his generation. He was also one of the main protagonists in France’s 1998 World Cup triumph.

But while Marcus inherited his father’s footballing genes, he plays much further up the field.

The 26-year-old has now established himself as one of the finest strikers in Serie A following his maiden campaign at Inter Milan.

The France international’s self-confidence is so high he believes he have prevailed over his old man in his prime.

“I would win, for sure,” proclaimed the Nerazzurri striker during his appearance on CBS Sports Golazo via FcInterNews.

The legendary Thierry Henry, who played alongside Lilian Thuram in the French national team, was delighted by Marcus’ answer.

The Arsenal legend even tried to come up with a tactical analysis, suggesting that the Inter striker may have a point.

“Lilian was a force of nature. But in a one-on-one situation, and with space behind him against Marcus, it would have been a good duel.”

On another note, the Nerazzurri star discussed his partnership with Lautaro Martinez. He feels that playing alongside the Inter captain makes life easier for him.

“First of all, Lautaro is one of the best strikers in the world. I think playing next to him is easy because he is an intelligent player.

“I have always played as number nine and I like to go into spaces. We are a complementary duo.”

While the Argentine will win the Serie A Capocannoniere award, the Frenchman has been prolific as well, contributing with 15 goals and 14 assists across all competitions this season.
