Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni feels Napoli are favourites to retain the Serie A title, but says the Nerazzurri “feel competitive.”
The Italian international spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews.
Inter Milan are just a few weeks away from the start of their Serie A season.
The Nerazzurri kick off their campaign against Torino on Monday. They host the Granata at the San Siro in their first match of the season.
This will be the first Serie A match in charge of Inter for new coach Cristian Chivu.
Meanwhile, some new faces who have arrived during the summer transfer window will also have a chance to make their debuts.
Inter came agonizingly close to winning the Serie A title last season. However, they lost out by just a single point to Napoli on the final day of the campaign.
Therefore, Chivu will have the task of trying to return Inter to the summit of Italian football in his first season at the helm of the club with whom he spent six years as a player.

Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni gave his thoughts ahead of the start of the new season.
“Our goal is to try to win every match,” said the 26-year-old.
“We’ll need to have more of a cutting edge, be more ruthless,” he continued. “Bring home the results, even if we don’t play well.”
“We need to have more attention to detail,” Bastoni.
Then, as far as the Serie A title goes, Bastoni commented that “whoever won it last certainly always starts as the favourite,” referring to last season’s champions Napoli.
“But we feel competitive,” the Italian international said. “We’ll do everything to win.”
