Simone Inzaghi admits that he is proud to be the coach of the group of players that’s currently at Inter Milan.

The Nerazzurri coach spoke to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews. He praised his players for the job they’ve done in securing the Serie A title.

It has taken a bit of fine-tuning for Inter’s squad to reach the point it’s at now.

There are some players who had already won the 2020-21 Serie A title, who Inzaghi inherited when he arrived.

These include Nicolo Barella, Alessandro Bastoni, Lautaro Martinez, Matteo Darmian, and Stefan de Vrij.

That group forms a formidable core at the heart of the Inter team.

But alongside these, a lot of players have come and gone during the past few years.

Just last summer, a whopping twelve players departed – an equivalent number arrived to replace them.

The likes of Benjamin Pavard, Marcus Thuram, and Davide Frattesi have not yet been Inter player for twelve months.

And then players like Hakan Calhanoglu, Denzel Dumfries, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan signed for Inter whilst Inzaghi has been coach.

But through all the changes, Inter’s squad has found a balance that was strong enough for them to win the Serie A title.

The likes of Marcelo Brozovic, Milan Skriniar, Edin Dzeko, Romelu Lukaku, and Edin Dzeko may have departed – to name just a few.

But Inter have arrived at a group of players that is perfectly suited to playing the way that 48-year-old former Lazio coach Inzaghi wants them to.

Speaking during the Nerazzurri Serie A title celebrations, Inzaghi said that “This is a crazy evening, with this crowd.”

“The guys totally deserve it. They’ve had a splendid ride this season.”

The 48-year-old admitted that “I’m proud to be their coach.”

“And it’s right that we all get to enjoy this party together.”
