Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi will be relying on starting strikers Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram to get the job done against Lazio.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.
Goals have not exactly been a problem for Inter this season.
The Nerazzurri are behind only free-scoring Atalanta for goals in Serie A this season.
However, the worry has been the inconsistent form of Inter’s strikers.
Nerazzurri captain Lautaro Martinez has, quite simply, not been at his best this campaign.
There has been an evident lack of sharpness from the Argentine. He has shown one or two flashes of what he’s capable of, but nowhere near consistently enough.
Meanwhile, Marcus Thuram has found the back of the net ten times in Serie A already.
However, most of the Frenchman’s goals have come in the form of braces or hattricks. He has not been scoring relentlessly, week in and week out.
But there is no doubt about who will be leading the line for Inter in their next match.
The Nerazzurri face Lazio away. The Biancocelesti are undoubtedly direct title rivals for them after the blazing start they’ve made to the season under Marco Baroni.
And Inter coach Inzaghi knows that he needs top performances from his starting strikers.
Martinez and Thuram will be the starting strike partnership as usual.
And Inzaghi will be hoping that they can finally find their best form – individually and as a duo – for the extremely important occasion.
