Inter Milan Coach Now One Of Italy’s Top Coaches After Step Up From Lazio | OneFootball

The move to Inter Milan from Lazio was a crucial step for Simone Inzaghi becoming one of Italian football’s top coaches.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

As the Corriere highlights, several of Italian football’s top coaches have been at Lazio in the last decade or so.

Inzaghi was at the Biancocelesti helm for more than five years.

Meanwhile, both Stefano Pioli and Maurizio Sarri have also had spells in charge in the Italian capital.

These three are among the top coaches in Italy at the moment.

And each of the trio have had a different sort of impact at Lazio – and the Stadio Olimpico has represented a different chapter for all three.

In the case of Pioli, the veteran coach enjoyed a couple of solid seasons at the Olimpico. He then had mixed tenures at Inter and Fiorentina.

Then it was joining AC Milan that really proved to be the perfect fir for Pioli.

Sarri, meanwhile, only left Lazio earlier this season, ending a tenure of more than two and a half years.

The 65-year-old had enjoyed success with Lazio, Chelsea, and Juventus prior to his time at Lazio.

Move From Inter To Lazio The Perfect Step For Simone Inzaghi

In Inzaghi’s case, Lazio was where the 48-year-old got his start in coaching.

And Inzaghi did a hugely impressive job in Rome.

The Biancocelesti reached the Champions League round of sixteen under Inzaghi. They also won the Coppa Italia, and the Supercoppa Italiana twice.

However, there was a sense that there was a ceiling on what Inzaghi could achieve at Lazio.

So in 2021, Inzaghi took the risky step of joining Inter.

There was certainly no guarantee of success for Inzaghi, as he was replacing Antonio Conte in a very chaotic environment.

And not everything has gone perfectly for the Inter coach over the last few years.

However, Inzaghi has grown into the job, and brought stability.

This has brought a Champions League final, and the Serie A title. It would be hard to see these results coming to Inzaghi had he stayed at Lazio.
