Simone Inzaghi has given Inter Milan’s squad two days off from training, with Nicolo Barella and Tajon Buchanan expected back next week.
This according to Italian outlet FCInterNews, who report on the Nerazzurri’s preparations for next weekend’s Serie A return against Roma.
The international break is now at its midway point.
For Inter, that means that it is very much time to start thinking about next Sunday’s Serie A match against Roma.
For many of Inter’s squad, there are still more pressing priorities. Many of the Nerazzurri squad are still with their national teams for a few more days.
But a good chunk of the squad have stayed behind. They have been working in training with coach Simone Inzaghi.
The squad have spent the past few days working in training.
And according to FCIN, that included today. They players continued work in view of next Sunday’s match against the Giallorossi.
However, the outlet anticipate, the players will get a couple of days off.
After today, FCIN report, Inter’s squad will get a couple days to rest and relax.
Nerazzurri coach Inzaghi has given the players both Sunday and Monday off.
Then, next Tuesday the Inter squad will return to work.
There, the players will really start to focus on preparations for their first match back after the break.
And in the meantime, Inter should be getting one big name back in training along with the rest of the players.
Midfielder Nicolo Barella has been absent from training for right around three weeks. This has been while he has recovered from a thigh strain that he picked up in the derby against AC Milan last month.
However, FCIN report, Barella is right on track with his recovery. That means that he should be back in training at the start of next week.
Therefore, the 27-year-old will absolutely be available for selection for Inter’s trip to the capital to face Roma.
It’s a bit of a different story with wingback Tajon Buchanan.
The Canadian international should return to training next week as well, reports FCIN. He should be back either on Tuesday or Wednesday, anticipates the outlet.
However, unlike Barella, Buchanan has not just been out for a couple of weeks. He has been out for nearly four months recovering from a broken leg and surgery.
Therefore, Inter coach Inzaghi will have to ease the Canadian back into the squad.
Buchanan could potentially be in the matchday squad to face Roma.
But alternatively, the 25-year-old could make his long-awaited return to the squad for matches against Young Boys in the Champions League or Juventus in Serie A.
