Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez feels that Nerazzurri teammate Valentin Carboni “has a great future.”
The 27-year-old spoke to InterTV after yesterday’s 2-1 Club World Cup win over Urawa Red Diamonds, via FCInterNews. Carboni scored the winner in that match.
Inter Milan attacking midfielder Valentin Carboni certainly made an impact against Urawa Red Diamonds yesterday.
The 20-year-old came on as a substitute in the second half. At the time that he came on, Inter were 0-1 down.
Then, it was Lautaro Martinez who levelled the scoreline for the Nerazzurri.
And then, in stoppage time, as the match looked destined to end in a draw, Carboni was the player who popped up inside the penalty area.
The Argentine was on hand to slot the ball into the far corner with his weaker right foot.
That goal was enough to give Inter the three points. That means that they now have a major foothold going into their final group stage match against River Plate.

After the match, Inter captain Lautaro Martinez said that he was “very happy” for Carboni.
“He’s a great guy. I’ve known him since he was young.”
Martinez said that Carboni “works hard, and is serious about it.”
“He wants to improve.”
The Inter captain noted that Carboni “went out on loan abroad, but then got injured.”
“He’s a guy who has a great future. And he has to stay on the path that he’s on.”
“Not just him,” Martinez added. “But all the young players who give us a big hand.”
“They have to train and try to give the coach a tough choice and a lot of doubts.”
“That’s what it’s all about,” the Inter captain made clear. “Always raising the level.”
Meanwhile, Martinez admitted that the final group stage match against River Plate will be an emotional one for him. “Because they’re an Argentine team, and my mom’s a River fan,” he said.
“I have a lot of former teammates from the national team there.”
“It will be a great match to play in,” Martinez continued. “Now, we have to focus on recovering and preparing for that match at our best.”
