Inter Milan wingback Tajon Buchanan says that his loan to Villarreal helped him “regain physical form and confidence.”
Speaking after Canad’as 4-2 win over Ukraine yesterday, via FCInterNews, the 26-year-old gave his thoughts on the second half of the season.
Tajon Buchanan joined Villarreal on loan from Inter Milan during the January transfer window.
The Canadian international left the Nerazzurri almost exactly a year after he’d joined.
Inter signed Buchanan from Club Brugge in January of 2024. However, he never made a start for the Nerazzurri over the second half of the 2024-25 season.
Then last summer, Buchanan suffered a devastating injury. He sustained a tibia fracture while training with the Canada national team at the Copa America.
This caused Buchanan to miss the first several months of the season.
The Canadian did eventually return in the autumn. However, he still did not receive much in the way of playing time.
Buchanan made a grand total of one start for Inter. He played from the first minute against Udinese in a Coppa Italia clash.

It was therefore not a huge surprise to see Tajon Buchanan join Villarreal on loan earlier this year.
And while the 26-year-old has not always been a starter there, he has certainly played more frequently than he had at Inter.
And that looks to have had a beneficial effect for Buchanan. He assisted and then scored a goal in Canada’s 4-2 win over Ukraine yesterday.
“I’m starting to feel good again,” Buchanan said after the match.
“I feel like I used to. I’m getting back to being the old me.”
Buchanan admitted that “the move to Villarreal helped me to regain a lot of my physical form, as well as confidence.”
“I’ve worked hard to get back to this level. And I’m happy with how I played today.”
Then Buchanan added that “I just have to keep working hard and give my best.”
