Inter Milan defender Benjamin Pavard feels that the Nerazzurri are playing without pressure against Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League.

The 27-year-old French international spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, before this evening’s group stage clash.

Inter are currently on four points in their Champions League group.

The Nerazzurri snatched a 1-1 draw away to Real Sociedad in their opening match. Then, not long before the October international break, they beat Benfica 1-0 at the San Siro.

That win over Benfica was important for giving Inter a real foothold in their group.

Now the Nerazzurri are on track to qualify for the knockout rounds.

However, getting points against Red Bull Salzburg will still be very important.

The job is nowhere near complete, and Inter do not have that much of a margin for error. Particularly not after having drawn against La Real in their opener.

For his part, former Bayern Munich and Stuttgart defender Pavard sees full well the significance of this evening’s match, and the reverse fixture in Austria.

But the Frenchman is not feeling too much pressure.

Benjamin Pavard: Inter Not Feeling Too Much Pressure Vs Salzburg In Champions League

Pavard said that this evening’s fixture is “An important match because a win would allow us to qualify for the knockouts.”

“But we can’t put pressure on ourselves,” he went on. “We know our qualities and we hope that we can do our duty.”

“Inzaghi’s system of play doesn’t change much,” the Frenchman added.

“I’m a centre-back. But I can also play on the flank. I adapt as well as I can and always try to give my best.”

Of his summer move to Inter, Pavard noted that “I was very happy when I heard that they were trying to sign. I’m, a fan of Inter.”

“I got a lot of really nice messages when it looked like I was joining,” he noted.

“And I hope to give back to the fans with my performances after they waited for me.”
