Inter Milan already have a significant “head start” as the transfer window official opens in Serie A.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Now that it’s July, the transfer window is officially open in Serie A.

It is not as though clubs have not been going about their business over the past few weeks.

But in an official and ceremonial sense, this is when things really start to heat up.

For Inter, this summer is likely to look quite a bit different than the last one.

Last time around, the Nerazzurri had a long summer full of twists and turns. Twelve players left, and twelve came in to take their place.

There were dramatic transfer soap operas, such as those of Romelu Lukaku and Lazar Samardzic.

Of course, players will both depart and arrive at Inter this summer – even if the turnover is not nearly as extreme as last summer.

But the objective this time around is more a matter of keeping the team that has just won the Serie A title in dominant fashion together.

And the additions that Inter will be making, they have already secured.

Both Piotr Zielinski and Mehdi Taremi will be coming in on free transfers, from Napoli and Porto respectively. They will take the place of players like Alexis Sanchez, Davy Klaassen, and Stefano Sensi in Inter’s squad.

And the Nerazzurri acted well in advance to sign these two big name free transfers.

The agreements with both players were already in place as early as January.

Now it’s just a matter of officially announcing Zielinski and Taremi as Inter players.

Meanwhile, one of Inter’s first priorities this summer has been to sign a new goalkeeper. They have looked to bring in a young keeper who can back up Yann Sommer next season, before taking over as the starter in the long term.

And it is Genoa’s Josep Martinez who is already set to undergo medicals on a move to Inter tomorrow.

Therefore, with three big signings, Inter will already be improving their squad depth. At least on paper.

And it is only July first.

Of course, there will likely be more business to come.

Inter are going after Genoa’s Albert Gudmundsson. And then Bologna’s Dan Ndoye is also on their radar – but only in the event that Denzel Dumfries leaves.

Inter could make a couple surprise signings in the last few days of the window, like with Alexis Sanchez and Davy Klaassen last summer.

But the months of July and August are not likely to be action-packed on the transfer front for Inter like last time around.
