Inter Milan midfielder Kristjan Asllani addressed the media in the lead-up to a high-stakes Champions League showdown against Monaco.

During his pre-match chat with Prime via FCInterNews, the 22-year-old admitted he’d be disappointed not to take three points tonight.

With Hakan Calhanoglu on the sidelines with a muscle injury, Asllani has become a first-team regular in January.

Indeed, Simone Inzaghi has frequently used the former Empoli playmaker since returning from Saudi Arabia.

However, Asllani’s performances have often flattered to deceive.

Therefore, he has become the subject of mass criticism in Italy, with many questioning his capacity to replace Calhanoglu.

Unfazed by the media pressure, Asllani insists he only focuses on giving his best on the pitch.

“I’m not interested in criticism, Asllani stated. “I want to do well because it’s an important match.

“We have to do well as a team, there are important points up for grabs tonight.”

The Albanian midfielder again highlighted the significance of taking an all-important point.

Indeed, a draw would see Inter through to the last-16 via a coveted top-eight finish.

“We need that point, but we enter the field to win. We will give our best.”

With a place in the knockout stages already in the bag, Inter fans can start dreaming big.

However, Asllani chooses to keep his feet firmly on the ground.

Instead, he looks to take one step at a time.

“We’ve collected so many points; it would be a shame not to add more tonight. We have to win – we know we’re a strong team.”

A point will do the trick, but there’s a feeling Inter wouldn’t settle for a draw.

Inzaghi’s decision to field his strongest starting line-up further highlights his ambition to end the league phase on a high.
