Inter Milan are reportedly looking to replicate the formula used to sign Davide Frattesi last summer as they try to lure in Albert Gudmundsson.

The Icelandic international is enjoying a sensational campaign at the Marassi. He has already 14 goals in 32 Serie A appearances.

His exploits have attracted the attention of several suitors between Italy and abroad, including the likes of Juventus and Tottenham.

But according to Calciomercato, the Nerazzurri are working on a plan to beat the compeititon.

However, the Grifone are asking for at least 30 million euros to release their main talisman. Therefore, Inter can only afford to sign the striker by resorting to the Frattesi formula from last summer.

In other words, the Italian champions will be looking to sign Gudmundsson on an initial loan deal that includes an obligation to buy.

As the source explained, Inter were legally obliged to sign Frattesi from Sassuolo on a permanent basis after achieving certain conditions by February 2nd.

The management opted for that paticular date as accounting ploy. That is because the club closes the annual financial year on the 31st of December. The general assembly would then have to approve the accounts in January.

Therefore, placing the purchase in February allows the club to defer the operation’s costs to the following year.

Moreover, the report claims that even Genoa would be in favor of this maneuver. The Ligurians aim to close their yearly account on a profit.

However, they have already registered significant capital gains by selling Radu Dragusin to Tottenham in January. This operation ensured a positive balance sheet for 2024.

Therefore, the Grifone could prefer to register Gudmundsson’s sale on the books for 2025, to ensure yet another positive financial year.
