Inter eye three Bologna players to rejuvenate Inzaghi’s squad | OneFootball

Inter are already plotting moves ahead of the January transfer window and are keen on three players currently working under Vincenzo Italiano at Bologna according to reports on Saturday morning.

Inter currently have the oldest squad in the division. Of the players fielded in Serie A this term, Inter’s team has an average age of 29, almost a full year older than the second-oldest team in the league: Napoli (average age of 28.1 years).

With that in mind, Inter’s priority in the summer transfer window will be to lower the average age of Inzaghi’s playing squad according to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Sunday’s report claims that the Nerazzurri already have several players in mind to both strengthen and lower the average age of the squad in the next transfer window.

Inter interested in three Bologna players

One of them is striker Santiago Castro, who has been dubbed the heir to Lautaro Martinez’s throne in San Siro. The 20-year-old continues to impress in front of goal for Bologna, with six league goals this term, plus two in two in the Coppa Italia, as well as seven assists in all competitions.

Another one to monitor up front for Inzaghi and his staff is Francesco Pio Esposito, who currently has 11 goals in 21 appearances for Spezia in Serie B this season, which makes him the second-highest goalscorer in the league.

He is currently on loan from Inter and will return to San Siro in the summer, and could carve out a spot as a back-up option to the likes of Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

There are two other players at Bologna who are of interest to the Nerazzurri ahead of the summer transfer window, namely centre-backs Sam Beukema and Jhon Lucumi.

La Gazzetta claims that Beukema is the defender that interests Inter the most, and is considered an ideal replacement for the ageing Francesco Acerbi, whos contract will expire at the end of the 2025-26 campaign.
