Uriel Iugt is usually top dog when it comes to Argentine transfer rumours, but today it seems he’s branching out over the border to Brazil.
His Tweet earlier today concerns a player who Chelsea already own, one we’re all desperate to see in action. Andrey Santos was expected to come back and play a part in our first team this season, but instead he was sent to Strasbourg for another season.
The bad news is that Chelsea have suffered without him. The good news is that the Alsatians have benefitted hugely from having him, and his development has come on leaps and bounds. They beat Auxerre today to put them just six points from fourth place in Ligue 1.
Santos has been a huge part of that, and given Chelsea’s need for a powerful box to box star in the squad, it’s understandable Blues fans are impatient to see him in action.

Iugt claims that Chelsea already consider Santos an “important player for next season,” and are preparing to fend off interest from other teams.
Bayern Munich are in the mix – they are named as “one of the most interested clubs,” but it’s made clear that Chelsea “don’t want to loan, let alone sell” the Brazilian.
That’s good to hear – we made a mistake not keeping him in the squad this season, but an understandable one. I mean, who could have predicted that Romeo Lavia would spend the whole season out injured? That was totally unforseeable.
To Santos him go anywhere now would be criminal, however. He looks like he could be one of the major transfer success stories of this ownership, we just need to get him on the pitch for us winning games and helping to win trophies.
