Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola was one of the high-profile guests in attendance at Heaton Park over the weekend as Oasis began their reunion gigs in the city.

The Catalan coach has been making the most of his now-extended summer break after his Manchester City side crashed out of the FIFA Club World Cup earlier than expected over in the United States.

Having progressed with perfection from the initial group stage against Wydad AC, Al Ain, and Juventus – becoming the only side to record three wins from the three matches – it was Saudi Arabian opposition that would send City packing in the knockout round.

Simone Inzaghi’s Al Hilal took Manchester City all the way to extra-time and would prevent a penalty shoot-out in the process too with a dramatic 3-4 win in the last-16, and bring an end to Guardiola’s first preparations for the new season.

But with around six weeks separating City’s defeat to the Middle-Eastern club and their return to training at the City Football Academy, players and staff have been granted extended holidays to rest and refresh ahead of their work schedule and pre-season plans.

For manager Pep Guardiola, that has seen the Manchester City manager appear as a VIP guest with his family at Oasis’ first night of their reunion tour which has now landed at Heaton Park in Manchester over the course of the weekend and into this week.

First spotted alongside the children of both Liam and Noel Gallagher backstage, the 54-year-old donned a retro Manchester City shirt from the era of Colin Bell, with the legendary Maine Road star’s iconic number 8 on the back of the jersey.

Guardiola then took time out to pose for photos with music icon Richard Ashcroft, supporting Oasis at Heaton Park across their gigs, before the Manchester City boss would then capture every moment of the evening on his phone alongside his daughter, Maria.

One moment that has caught the eyes of many online was Liam Gallagher dedicating one song to “the greatest manager of all-time, the one and only Pep Guardiola”, which attracted notable boo’s from large portions of the crowd in attendance.

Defending Manchester City’s legendary coach, Noel Gallagher responded to the masses by exclaiming, “Who the f*** are you booing? Who are you f****** booing?”

Manchester City’s stars and Pep Guardiola will return to work towards the end of this month, before embarking on a pre-season friendly against City Football Group sister club Palermo in Italy ahead of their Premier League start.

A visit to Molineux to face Vitor Pereira’s Wolves will open Manchester City’s 2025/26 account in the English top-flight, and it remains to be seen just how many more changes can be expected in the squad before then after four new signings were completed by Hugo Viana ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup.
