The 18-year-old played all 90 minutes of the Whites’ crucial play-off semi-final victory midweek.

Daniel Farke’s side crushed the Canaries in a blistering first half, going 3-0 up inside the opening 40 minutes.

Goals from Ilia Gruev, Joel Piroe and Georginio Rutter gave Leeds a comfortable cushion, which they extended in the 68th minute through Crysencio Summerville.

The victory earned the Yorkshire outfit a place in the play-off final, where they will meet either West Brom or Southampton.

Windass has praised Gray following the impressive 4-0 win over David Wagner’s team at Elland Road.

The youngster has continued to impress many with his mature performances, with the Sheffield Wednesday forward highlighting his young age in the aftermath of the win.

“Archie Gray, 18. Incredible,” wrote Windass, via Twitter.

Gray made 44 appearances in the regular Championship season, including 40 starts, in what has been a breakout campaign for the youngster (all stats from Fbref).

He initially played a crucial role in midfield, but has found himself being used at right-back as well in the second half of the term.

The teenager featured for all 180 minutes of their two-legged semi-final clash against Norwich, helping the team keep two clean sheets on their way to the final later this month.

Gray has been linked with a move away from Elland Road this summer, even attracting interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

However, he has a contract with the Whites until the summer of 2028, with reports suggesting he could be in line for another new deal at the end of the campaign.

Leeds will be keen to hold onto the youngster, who is the latest talent to come through the club’s own academy system.

Leeds United’s promotion hopes

Promotion to the Premier League could go a long way to convincing the player that his long-term future should be at Elland Road.

Farke’s team needs just one more win to secure a place back in the top flight, having reached the play-off final after Thursday’s win.

The Yorkshire club will face either Southampton or West Brom on 26 May to decide the final promoted side.

The winner will join Ipswich Town and Leicester City in moving up to the Premier League, with Leeds seeking an immediate return after relegation 12 months ago.

Gray continues to impress

Gray has had a remarkable debut campaign, and will only continue to gain such attention from the football world.

For someone with such little experience, he has settled into senior football like a seasoned pro.

He has proven very important to the team’s promotion challenge, especially given how well he has adapted to playing at right-back, an area where Leeds needed someone to step up and fill that gap in their squad.

Tying him down to a long-term contract in January was crucial, and he could be in line for a bumper pay increase in the summer if he helps the club gain promotion.
