A fresh insight into the plans of the coaching staff at La Liga giants Barcelona for the club’s goalkeeper position has on Wednesday been provided.
This comes ahead of this weekend’s latest edition of The Derbi Barceloní.
Hansi Flick’s troops are of course primed to return to action on Sunday, in a La Liga showdown with city rivals Espanyol.
In the weeks leading up to the clash, Iñaki Peña has manned the spot between the posts, in the ongoing absence of no.1 Marc-André ter Stegen.
As much has seen Wojciech Szczęsny, brought in as emergency cover earlier this month, forced to watch on from the sidelines.
The Pole has declared himself more than ready to feature in a competitive setting, no doubt eager to play his part for a rampant Barca outfit as soon as possible.
Szczęsny’s debut, however, looks unlikely to come this weekend.
As per a report from Diario Sport:
‘There is no sign of any change in goal. Iñaki Peña will continue to be the number one between the sticks for the time being and the coaching staff is confident that the accumulation of games will allow them to see an increasingly better version of the goalkeeper.’
