Inter Milan wingback Denzel Dumfries says that he’s not focusing on Napoli as the Serie A title race pressure heats up.
The Dutchman spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, after the Nerazzurri’s 3-1 Serie A win over Empoli.
Inter did manage to get themselves to within three points of Napoli in the Serie A table this evening.
The Nerazzurri didn’t blink. They responded to the Partenopei’s big win over Napoli yesterday by getting the job done against Empoli at the San Siro.
But the fact remains that Napoli have proven to be exceptionally tough title rivals. Moreso than any team managed to be last season.
Even if Inter are to take three points from their game in hand against Fiorentina – hardly something they can take for granted – they will only be level on points at the top.
Inter wingback Dumfries was the scorer of his side’s second goal against Empoli this evening. He has been as prolific as he’s ever been for the Nerazzurri this season.
“This is a good moment for me,” the Dutchman said.
“Now we need to keep going like this and keep growing.”
“I’m happy,” Dumfries added after Inter’s win over Empoli.
As far as his growth at Inter, Dumfries said that “I’ve improved my concentration so that I can stay in the game.”
“I’m also improving on my movements on the pitch with the coaching staff,” the former PSV wingback added. “I try to improve every day.”
Meanwhile, Dumfries also admitted that he was watching yesterday’s match between Atalanta and Napoli. “I saw a good match between two great teams,” he said.
“Napoli are a good team,” the Dutchman went on. “They got an important win.”
“They’re a strong team,” he said. “But so are we, so I have to just focus on Inter.”
