Markus Krösche, Dino Toppmöller and Robin Koch were naturally disappointed with the 1-0 defeat to Tottenham but are proud with Eintracht’s overall display in the Europa League.

Board member for sport Markus Krösche: “We’re obviously hugely disappointed so soon after the game. We tried everything in the second half but weren’t as clinical as we needed to be in attack. Mario Götze’s injury ruined our game plan, but we can’t change that now. Despite that, we had opportunities to win the game, but we couldn’t make the most of them. Unfortunately, we’re now out of the competition.”

Head coach Dino Toppmöller: “Unfortunately, this wonderful journey has come to an end. We had some great experiences and games, and we’d have loved to stay in the competition even longer. My boys did everything they could to progress – they left their hearts on the pitch. We’re going to dust ourselves off now and turn our full attention to the Bundesliga. We’re all craving more games like this and will do all we can to continue to offer our fantastic fans European football next season. I’m very proud of my team – we were the youngest side in the competition.”

Robin Koch: “The team and the fans are all extremely disappointed. In the first half, it was a more frantic contest with lots of misplaced passes. We were much more dominant after the break. We tried everything in the second half in particular and threw everything forward. We had plenty of chances to score but didn’t quite have the luck we needed to force extra time. It’s a difficult moment. The result and the manner of it is extremely hard to take. The atmosphere here was unbelievable again. Every player wants to experience this again next season – hopefully in the Champions League.”
