Barcelona will only listen to offers for Marc Casado ‘if he wants’ to leave before the transfer window ends, with Wolves and West Ham United namechecked as suitors.
The 21-year-old defensive midfielder is a product of Barcelona’s academy system and had a brilliant campaign with the Blaugrana last season.
Casado made 36 appearances for the Catalan outfit last season in all competitions, with ten of them coming in the Champions League.
Last season, with the injuries to Marc Bernal and Frankie de Jong, Casado played a regular role in Hansi Flick’s starting lineup.
However, he was an unused substitute in Barcelona’s opening day fixture against Mallorca, which raised question regarding his game time this season.
In the Premier League, Wolves and West Ham are among his suitors and it has been suggested that both clubs have contacted the players’ camp regarding a potential move before the window shuts.
Casado at the moment has no interest in leaving and Barcelona are not planning to deprive themselves of his services.
However, according to Spanish daily Mundo Deportivo, ‘if he wants’ to go in search of more playing time, then the door could be opened.
The Catalan outfit have slapped a €30m valuation on Casado’s head though and they will not listen to any offers less than their set price tag.
Wolves and West Ham might have to dig deep in their pockets to land the midfielder, but they will also face competition from La Liga outfit Real Betis.
Casado has been linked with a Premier League move before as London outfit Tottenham Hotspur explored a potential move for him in the early days of the window.
West Ham have not been very active in the window and after a disappointing defeat at the hands of newly promoted Sunderland they are now making moves to strengthen their squad.
Strengthening midfield is on Graham Potter’s priority list and they made an improved offer for Southampton’s Mateus Fernandes on Tuesday night.
Wolves on the other hand have lost some of their key players and they are in the market to add new names who will be able to fit into Vitor Pereira’s side.
