Moi Elyounoussi now stars for Copenhagen and the Danish side take a rather fortuitous 2-0 lead from the first leg into tonight’s game.
Inevitably the Norwegian international was asked about his time at Celtic with Moi insisting that he remains huge Celtic supporter, who keeps up to date with the matches and has even spoken to Celtic Assistant Manager John Kennedy in recent weeks.
Elyounoussi is hoping the result tonight goes his way alongside the score on Sunday at Celtic Park for the first Glasgow Derby of the season. He has fond memories of the 2019 League Cup Final win over theRangers at Hampden which he recalls had an unbelievable atmosphere and regrets the impact that COVID had on the fixture where supporters were not allowed to attend the games, with the 30 year-old insisting that it just not the same.
“The derby is an amazing fixture to be involved in. It was a shame in the second season when we had Covid and fans were not allowed into the matches. It wasn’t the same. I remember the previous year and the derbies were incredible.
“The League Cup final stands out, of course. Hampden was shaking. I’d never experienced anything like it. These games are very special,” Moi said, as reported by Football Scotland.
Elyounoussi added: “The first one of the season can have a big psychological factor, in terms of the momentum and confidence you can take from a victory. There is a long time left in the season, of course, but it is really good to win the first one, especially at home.
“Celtic have done really well in the recent Old Firm (sic) games and they are on a good run. They have also started the season really well. I hope they can continue that this weekend.”
