Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has made a concerning prediction ahead of Sunday’s finale clash with West Ham.

The 53-year-old could become the first manager to win four successive Premier League titles this weekend, with Manchester City requiring a win over West Ham at the Etihad Stadium to secure a sixth English top-flight title in seven years.

The Sky Blues’ 0-2 win over Tottenham on Tuesday evening courtesy of Erling Haaland’s second-half brace and a series of heroic saves from Stefan Ortega, has left Manchester City within three points of more silverware success.

West Ham haven’t beaten Manchester City since September 2015, and are winless in their past 18 matches against the Sky Blues, with the exception of a Carabao Cup penalty shoot-out in October 2021.

Sunday’s clash at the Etihad Stadium will mark the end of David Moyes’ tenure as manager at the London Stadium, after the Scotsman announced plans to leave the east London club at the end of the current campaign.

Manchester City beat the Hammers on the final day in 2014 to win a second Premier League title, as goals from Samir Nasri and Vincent Kompany secured the title under the management of Manuel Pellegrini.

Pep Guardiola is braced for a more complicated afternoon however, predicting the potential for Sunday’s clash to be similar to the dramatic 3-2 comeback win over Aston Villa in May 2022.

“We’d like to be 3-0 up after 10 minutes [vs West Ham] but it will not happen. I have a feeling it will be like Aston Villa [in 2022]. We are ready,” said the Catalan.

“If you think Everton are going to do something [against Arsenal], forget about it.”

Arsenal host Everton at the Emirates Stadium simultaneously to Manchester City’s clash with West Ham, with two points currently separating the two sides at the top of the table but the Gunners having a superior goal difference.
