The Toffees have been linked with a host of European frontmen this summer as they have been looking to bring a striker in.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s departure following his contract expiry has increased the urgency, amid Richard Keys expressing surprise at a transfer link for the now former Toffee.

Villarreal’s 22-year-old forward Barry, who joined them only last summer, emerged as Everton’s top target.

The Merseyside club have been negotiating with the La Liga outfit to agree on a fee and they have been close for a while.

Now, it has been suggested that the 22-year-old could have his Everton medical in the upcoming days, with Myers writing: “I expect Thierno Barry to have his medical next few days, still work to do but a deal worth around £27M getting much closer.”

The deal is not sealed yet because there are still work to be done, but Barry is getting closer to joining the Toffees on a £27m deal.

The young striker has played in France, Switzerland, Belgium, Spain, and now he is on his way to play in England.

Barry scored eleven goals and made four assists in his first campaign at Villarreal, in 35 La Liga games.

The Liverpool-based club will be starting their pre-season against Accrington Stanley on 15th July, and the Toffees fans will look forward to seeing him in action.

Now the Toffees will be looking to put Barry through his medical to announce his capture as soon as possible.

Villarreal have already been planning for how to spend the money they will get from selling Barry.
