Bayern Munich are already through to the Club World Cup knockout stages, but they will still need to be on red alert against Benfica.

Vincent Kompany’s side are perfect in this summer’s competition, thrashing Auckland City 10-0 and squeezing past Boca Juniors 2-1 in their opening two fixtures.

Now, they will face a sterner test against Portuguese outfit Benfica, who could leapfrog them to top the group with a surprise victory at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina tonight.

Benfica, managed by former Wolves manager Bruno Lage, drew 2-2 with Boca in their opening match, but put six past Auckland to position themselves second behind their German counterparts in Group C.

Bayern could shuffle their pack with their place in the knockout stage guaranteed already, but if they want to top the group, they will need to avoid defeat here.
