FLW take a look at how much Mikey Johnston will earn across his West Bromwich Albion career.

West Bromwich Albion's Mikey Johnston has had an incredibly interesting career to date.

Born in Glasgow, the winger joined Celtic's academy in 2008 aged nine and honed his trade as he worked his way up through the youth levels.

In 2017, he was finally afforded an opportunity in the first team as he made his debut against St Johnstone in a 4-1 victory.

The following seasons at the Hoops would see plenty more appearances follow, but he struggled to ever nail down a first-team spot, with the arrivals of players like Daizen Maeda and Jota forcing him down the pecking order.

This prompted Ange Postecoglou to send the Irishman out on loan, and he spent the 2022-23 season with Portuguese side, Vitória de Guimarães. Across 31 appearances, he managed eight goal contributions and while this earned him more opportunities back at Celtic Park, he was ultimately loaned out last January to West Brom.

This spell appeared to help Johnston find his rhythm, as he scored eight goals in 20 games for Albion, playing a pivotal role in propelling them into the play-off picture.

Unsurprisingly, this temporary move prompted the Baggies to make a summer approach for the 25-year-old and their £3 million bid was duly accepted by Brendan Rodgers' side. Joining on a four-year deal, the winger has continued to feature under Carlos Corberan but has struggled to find the same stride as he displayed last year.

The hope will be that he can turn this around, and at Football League World we have opted to take a look at how much Johnston will earn on his current contract at the club.

Mikey Johnston's estimated wage

Moving to West Brom in the summer, it is estimated by Capology that Johnston's weekly wage at his previous club, Celtic, was £10,000 a week. This would have seen him net £520,000 across the 2023-24 season with Corberan's side paying some percentage of that as part of the deal.

However, since leaving Scotland it is believed his weekly income has now risen slightly to a figure of £12,500. This £2,500 increase will see him take home an extra £130,000 every campaign, meaning that across his four-year deal he will net a hefty £2,600,000, if he doesn't leave.

On a relatively modest Championship wage, Johnston will be keen to prove his worth to Corberan and the West Brom hierarchy in a bid to earn him an improved financial package in the future.

Johnston's earnings are low in comparison to his West Brom teammates

While a contractual wage of £2,600,000 sounds like a hefty amount, in comparison to many of his teammates, this stands at a relatively small figure.

American striker Daryl Dike signed a contract in January 2022 and has so far taken home a resounding £4,200,000 and is set to net a further £3,360,000 across the next two years.

Meanwhile, fellow summer signing, Gianluca Frabotta is believed to earn £20,000 per week, meaning his three-year contract will take his Baggies earnings to £3,120,000.

Those who have similar weekly earnings to Johnston include Alex Palmer and Joe Wildsmith, but both of these players have deals expiring in 2026.

While Johnston has been trusted with a long-term deal, his relatively modest weekly wage places West Brom in a strong position if he doesn't perform. However, with the winger being offered a four-year deal, you suspect they see a great future for the Irishman.
