Football League World looks at Beto's estimated wages at Everton amid interest from Leeds United
Leeds United are preparing for a significant, action-packed summer transfer window in a bid to re-establish the club in the Premier League after lifting the 2024/25 Championship title.
Daniel Farke's side clinched promotion at the second time of asking following last season's agonising collapse and play-off final defeat to Southampton, and will have every intention of bucking the alarming trend of freshly-promoted top-flight clubs suffering relegation straight back to the Championship.
According to Sky Sports, Farke is poised to be backed with a transfer warchest in excess of £100 million in order to hand the German the best possible chance of keeping Leeds in the Premier League and matching the club's lofty long-term ambitions.
And, as per that same report, Leeds are interested in a summer move for Everton striker Beto. The 27-year-old signed for the Toffees from Udinese in the summer of 2023 for a fee reportedly above the £20 million mark, and has endured a mixed spell on Merseyside.
The forward scored five goals in his debut campaign and has been a bit-part player this time around, though he has shown his ability to find the back of the net at the highest level.
Beto still has two years remaining on his current contract at Everton and, given just how much the Toffees shelled out to Udinese, it's likely that his potential arrival would not come cheaply. But how much could he set Leeds back in terms of wages?
Football League World takes a closer look...
According to Capology, a site which provides estimated figures on player salaries, Beto is collecting a weekly wage of £50,000 with David Moyes' side.
That equates to an annual salary worth £2.6 million, making him a medium-range earner at Everton.
You would, however, assume that Leeds would need to offer Beto a pay rise to convince him to make the move to Elland Road. At 27, he is in what should be his prime years and is not in a position where he needs to take a pay cut just yet.
Leeds will likely have to at least match his current contract, but the proposal of an increase would increase their chances of getting a deal over the line in the coming weeks and months.
At Leeds, meanwhile, Beto would be one of the club's highest estimated earners as things stand. Capology estimates the average weekly salary in Farke's squad to be £30,000, although that figure is naturally subject to a sizable increase once the Whites begin to get new signings in through the door.
Right now, Patrick Bamford and Junior Firpo represent Leeds' two top earners on estimated weekly contracts of £70,000 and £60,000 respectively, but both are out of contract next month and appear set to move on from West Yorkshire.
That would leave star winger Dan James, believed to be on a weekly contract of £50,000, as Leeds' highest earner, but that mantle could well go to Beto.
It's worth noting that Leeds could well bring in a number of signings who will be in receipt of salaries in excess of that figure, but ensuring Beto is among the top earners may prove key to completion of the club's pursuit.
