Jack Colback's QPR contract expired earlier this summer
QPR CEO Christian Nourry has issued a farewell message to Jack Colback following confirmation of his departure on deadline day.
The midfielder spent two years at Loftus Road, before his contract expired earlier this summer.
There was some uncertainty over whether he could make a return to the London outfit, but the close of the summer market has seen the Championship side confirm the 35-year-old will not be part of Julien Stéphan’s side this season.
Colback made 53 league appearances for QPR across two seasons, contributing four goals and two assists.
Nourry has confirmed that Colback will not be returning to QPR following the expiration of his contract earlier this summer.
He thanked the veteran midfielder for his services to the club over his two year stint, wishing him well for the next step in his career.
“Jack formally left us following the expiry of his contract at the end of last season but there was always a possibility something could happen over the last two months,” said Nourry, via the club’s official website.
“While that hasn’t been the case, the club is grateful to Jack for his efforts over the past two seasons, where his ability and experience were hugely valued by the group.
“We thank him and wish him every success for whatever comes next.”
QPR made a number of signings this summer following the appointment of Stéphan as manager in place of Martí Cifuentes.
Fees were paid for the likes of Koki Saito, Richard Kone, Karamoko Dembélé, Rumarn Burrell, Isak Alemayehu Mulugeta and Kealey Adamson.
Meanwhile, Kwame Poku, Amadou Salif Mbengue and Isaac Hayden were all signed as free agents.
Rhys Norrington-Davies also joined the club on loan from Sheffield United, with the club’s transfer business now concluded following Monday’s deadline.
It was a busy summer at Loftus Road, with Stéphan making his mark on the first team squad.
The departure of Colback is one that the club have moved on from, with the arrival of Hayden effectively replacing him in the side.
While the midfielder proved a valuable member of the dressing room during his two years with QPR, it’s no surprise that his time with the London outfit came to an end.
At 35, he is no longer at the peak of his powers, and it was time for the team to move on from him after his importance to the side had begun to wane.
