Paris Saint-Germain will host Aston Villa on Wednesday night at Parc des Princes. Marcus Rashford is one of the opposition players who has played against PSG and eliminated them in a UEFA Champions League knockout stage tie.

In 2019, Rashford was part of the Manchester United squad that eliminated the Parisians in the Round of 16. Additionally, he knows what to expect from the Parc des Princes atmosphere.

Both teams are entering the match riding positive momentum. PSG recently claimed their 13th league title with a 1-0 win over Angers SCO, while Villa secured a 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest in their latest match.

Could Marcus Rashford prove key in the Aston Villa-PSG tie?

On the latest PSG Talking podcast, CBS Sports’ Jonathan Johnson noted that Rashford could play a major role in deciding this tie over 180 minutes. The English standout has found new life after moving from Manchester United to Villa Park this past winter transfer window.

“I think he’s really probably the biggest threat in this game because of his experience and the way his form is starting to come back in drips and drabs is Rashford,” Johnson said.

“PSG fans will remember Rashford from when United knocked PSG out a couple of years ago when you had the Kimpembe handball and the penalty, which I think it was Rashford who scored to send United through.

“He already has experience of those big nights, scoring those big goals. And he’s started to find the back of the net in a couple of consecutive games, in the FA Cup and then against Brighton away.”
