Last week, we saw Harry Kane reminisce on his partnership with Heung-Min Son during their time in North London together, a duo that was so productive they beat the all time record for assists between those players, before further extending their lead another ten times.
The England captain called Son "one of the most underrated players in the top leagues", and broke down how their chemistry went to new levels, when Jose Mourinho took charge of Spurs in the autumn of 2019.
Now, we have seen the Spurs skipper talk about Kane in even more glowing terms. Speaking to TNT Sports, the 32-year old was asked if he gave his former team mate any advice about Germany and the Bundesliga, given he had played there before moving to Spurs - to which he responded: "I think, still the German league is one of the best leagues also and when we’re talking about Harry, I don’t have to give him any advice. For me, he’s the best.”
Then, Son was asked where Kane ranked in his all time striker list, responding: "Because he's my friend, obviously you get some bonus points. He will always be [in] my top three. It doesn't matter what happens, he will always be in my top three. Especially [as] we had such an amazing connection and played together [for] so long and we combined together for so many goals and yeah, having this kind of a striker is always a dream.”
Another really nice interview from just a really nice person. It's such a shame that his duo never won anything together, and subsequently may not get the respect they ever deserve, both as individual players and as the devastating duo that they were for such a long period of time, particularly in the last few years. To think Spurs had two players that good, as well as Christian Eriksen and Dele, all at the same time.
You never know, they may play again together one day, though it does feel a bit unlikely, especially as both players are now into their 30's. To think in their first season together, Son was 23 and Kane was only 22. Mind blowing how fast time flies. Maybe another friendly will be organised between Bayern and Spurs next summer, with the homecoming of Kane to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium making for a very popular day all round, back in August.
