Real Madrid star Dani Ceballos this evening made use of the opportunity to aim a ruthless dig at Atlético Madrid head coach Diego Simeone.

Ceballos, for his part, played a leading role a short time ago, as Real Madrid leapfrogged their city rivals back into top spot in the La Liga table.

After Atlético were condemned to a shock defeat at the hands of Leganés on Saturday, Los Blancos made no mistake in putting Las Palmas to the sword by four goals to one.

Speaking to the media on the back of the full-time whistle, the headline-grabbing recent comments laid out by Diego Simeone regarding his side were in turn put to the aforementioned Dani Ceballos.

For those who may have missed it, asked whether he was left surprised by the controversial officiating to have benefitted Real in their Copa del Rey victory over Celta Vigo on Thursday, Simeone pulled no punches in responding:

“I didn’t watch the game. They told me about some incidents that happened during the match… but it’s been like that for 100 years now. I don’t know why it surprises you.”

And such comments evidently didn’t sit overly well with Blancos midfielder Ceballos.

Drawn on as much by DAZN this evening, the former Arsenal man sniped:

“I think Simeone still hasn’t gotten over the two Champions League finals he lost against Real Madrid.”
